62 MPG Goal for the Toyota Prius

At the Washington D.C. auto show, Toyota stated that its Prius model can do 62 mpg. According to Jim Colon, Toyota vice president for product communication, "Whatever goal [the Obama administration] establishes, Toyota will be prepared to meet. If it's 62 miles a gallon, we'll be able to achieve that."

Toyota Offers Prius Models for Zipcar Car-Sharing Service

Toyota is offering eight of its next generation of electric cars to members of the Zipcar car-sharing service that is available in Boston, San Francisco, and Portland. Toyota Claims Prius To Be Best Seller By 2020

After the Toyota Prius posting its best-ever December in 2010, Toyota execs are pledging that their Prius brand or hybrid vehicles will be the best selling cars in America by 2020. In December, the Toyota moved over 15,000 units last month and over 140,000 total units for 2010, or 8% of Toyota's total US sales. That's a 0.9% increase over 2009.

Toyota Unveils The Prius MPV

Toyota has been working on several Prius variants for the next few years of release. The almost minivan-size Prius MPV is one of them, and has finally (though not exactly officially) been unveiled to the public.

The Japanese automaker celebrates a sales milestone for the hybrid hatchback and is working on a MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) version. This "eco people-carrier" has kept Prius in the headlines of major automotive sites and magazines for months.

Six More Hybrids From Toyota

Toyota has sold over a million Prius sedans since the 1990's and is making its way to be the top seller of hybrid vehicles throughout the world.

The Japanese auto maker also has a plan to sell one million hybrid vehicles (Prius, Camry, Highlander, etc.) a year.
