Temperatures are hot, hot, and hot outside at Toyota of N Charlotte. We know you want to stay cool and blast your AC during the heat of summer. The last thing you want during the heat of summer is your AC to go out on you! That’s why you should make sure you know the warning signs of when you need more car coolant.

adding car coolant

#1 Warning light on the dash.

Not all Toyota of N Charlotte cars will have this light on your dashboard that indicates that you need more car coolant. However, if it does warn you then you should definitely take your Toyota car to a dealership near you to have your levels checked.

What’s that smell?

#2 Sweet smell.

If you suddenly smell an overly sweet smell from your engine, then there might be a leak in your cooling system. If this is the case, it’s best to take your car to a Toyota of N Charlotte auto service technician to diagnose where the leak is coming from.

#3 Poor gas mileage.

Your Toyota car will perform really badly with gas consumption if the engine isn’t getting cooled down properly. When your engine isn’t in the right temperature range, then this can cause the fuel not to vaporize correctly. Hence, more trips to the gas station and even more money.

#4 A leak went rampant.

If you start to notice little puddles around your garage or driveway that are green, pink, or orange, then you may have a coolant leak. Just be sure to stay vigilant and clean the puddles up because it is toxic to animals and children.

#5 Heater went kaput.

If you’re getting extra chilly on those freezing days and nights in the winter, then this could also be a sign that you need more car coolant. The problem could be a blockage of car coolant or a leak that has taken a turn for the worse.

#6 Temperature gauge gone crazy.

If your temperature gauge needle is going closer to hot or cold, then this is bad news. It should always be in the middle if everything is running efficiently. Your best bet is to take this into the auto service technicians at Toyota of N Charlotte so that we can let you know what is going on under the hood.

#7 Your Toyota of N Charlotte car quits!

If your car’s coolant levels get too low, then your Toyota car could cease to exist. Your Toyota car will shut off if the engine gets too hot and doesn’t have car coolant to keep it at a safe temperature.
