Yes, we repeat the Toyota TJ Cruiser—in case you’re confusing it with the famous Toyota FJ Cruiser. Originally the Toyota TJ Cruiser was a concept vehicle at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. Now according to reports, it’ll be going into production to be debuted in Japan for the 2020 model year. Check out the latest scoop from Toyota of N Charlotte on the incredible and new Toyota TJ Cruiser!
Details on the Toyota TJ Cruiser
To put succinct, the N Charlotte Toyota TJ Cruiser is part minivan and part SUV. The concept was originally unveiled at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show and it featured a boxy design that seats 5 people. In addition, the engine compartment opened in the opposite direction from the majority of other Toyota vehicles in production. Plus, the interior includes a fold down passenger seat—giving you max cargo space! The two front doors will open out like other regular vehicle and the two back doors will slide open like a minivan. Even thought the concept vehicle only seats up to 5 people, the general consensus is that it’ll have third row options available in some models.
Being the successor of the FJ Cruiser, the Toyota TJ Cruiser will use a hybrid power-train that is like the one on the Toyota Prius or the Corolla Hybrid. The 1.8 liter hybrid power-train and 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine specs are rumored to to be potential options for this new vehicle.
There’s a lot of confidence that the new N Charlotte model will be heading to production real soon. A lot of the enthusiasm comes from a Japanese vehicle journalism site that claims Toyota has decided to unveil a production model of this vehicle in October of this year at the Tokyo Motor Show; which will eventually be sold in December. There’s still no confirmation that it’ll be arriving North American markets, but it will be built on the TNGA platform (many production Toyotas are built on this platform) so we can’t rule out the possibility for certain. What we do know is that a vehicle this versatile, fuel efficient, and stylish is definitely welcomed at Toyota of N Charlotte!
