Toyota Product Placements in Films and TV
Product placement is manufacturer of products gain exposure by paying to be features in films and tv shows. It may be one of the smartest ways to advertise because these fictional characters we all see are our role models (even if it’s subconscious). We all aspire to be Carrie Bradshaw and walk around in Manolos, or Marty McFly in his self lacing Nike Airforces. Even if you’re not into a product you see on the screen, the name will stay engaged in your mind and will pop up again the moment it’s time to purchase. At Toyota of N Charlotte, we’re guilty of product placement, but hey, it works! Check out a couple of different Toyota product placements that have appeared in movies and TV shows.

List of N Charlotte Toyota Product Placements
Bones (2005)
Some Toyota product placements are more obvious than others. In the case of Bones, this one is one of the more obvious ones. As you can see in the video clip, the characters are riding in a Toyota vehicle. While they’re talking about topic A, the usually divert to non plot related conversations where they talk about the vehicle’s features like the Intelligent Parking Assist in the Toyota Prius. This happens in multiple episodes throughout the series. (We have to take advantage of our screen time!)
The Pursuit of Happyness (2006)
If you’re able to get past the tear inducing scenes of the protagonist (played by Will Smith) and his son (Jayden Smith), then you’ll be able to spot it. This type of Toyota product placement is more discreet, almost like a subliminal message. It’s displayed in the background allowing the viewer to see it if they wish to do so.
Back to the Future Part II (1989)
And yet again, another Back to the Future reference provided by Toyota of N Charlotte. What can we say? We’re big fans! This is also one of the Toyota product placements we’re most proud of. This was done in a way that Marty McFly fans will want to purchase this N Charlotte Product by having his dream car be a Toyota Hilux. The DeLorean was discontinued by then, so what better way to get our foot in the door than to be the automakers of Marty’s dream car?
Lala Land (2016)
The Notebook isn’t the only movie where Ryan Gosling is seen as romantic. There’s also Lala Land! Struggling artists fall for each other in modern day LA… Sure it’s a simple plot, but have you seen the cinematography?! Anyway, back to the Toyota product placement. Emma Stone’s character Mia drives a Prius! Talk about a typical LA lifestyle with that fuel efficient car!
These are just a couple of Toyota product placements mentioned. The rest will be a mystery to you so now you have to pay special attention to watch you’re watching.
