With this in mind, this blog topic will cover daily car maintenance tricks. Before you scroll past this blog hear us out!

Taking care of your car is a major part of your ownership. Scheduling monthly recommended maintenance isn’t enough to keep your car in the best shape. We have a list of simple and quick car care items you should care for on the daily.

Toyota of N Charlotte shares a car maintenance checklist you should incorporate in your daily routine.

Your Daily Car Maintenance Checklist

1) Clean out trash from your car

Pick up the trash from your car every single day—especially if you leave wrappers, cups, utensils, etc. The reason behind this is that you’ll avoid attracting pests like rodents and insects. Therefore, before locking your car, make sure you emptied it from trash. Simplify this task by either hanging a trash bag on the back of the seat, or keep everything in a cup holding so that you can just grab and go.

2)   Do a walk around of the vehicle’s exterior

We suggest you to do this to your car every single day. It’s pretty simple to do once you get into the flow of things. It just take a couple of seconds and you’ll be assessing and looking for  damage.

3)   Inspect your tires while you walk around

Our N Charlotte auto service techs recommend for you to inspect your tires when you do the walk around. Just make sure that they don’t have any wear and tear like bulges, blister, or punctures, and that they’re not flat.

4)   Take a look at your dashboard lights

When you turn on your N Charlotte Toyota, all of the dashboard lights should illuminate and then turn off. If they don’t turn off, then “Houston, we have a problem”. Bring it up the next time you bring your vehicle in for car maintenance.  If you don’t address it ASAP, this can lead to bigger problems in the future.

5)   Make sure all your mirrors are aligned

For your own safety and others’ make sure your side mirrors and rearview mirrors are properly aligned before heading out. Also make sure that if they’re fogged up, that you turn on your defrosters or even manually clean them if it comes down to it.

6)   Don’t drive your N Charlotte Toyota on empty

Driving on empty is bad for your car’s fuel pump and engine. Try to leave the gas level at a quarter tank (the lowest).
