Coming Soon, the New Toyota Mirai!
While this year has been quite a whirlwind so far, we finally have some good news! The second generation Toyota Mirai is coming very soon, possibly even this December. This eco-friendly alternative fuel North Charlotte Toyota car is entering its second generation and is getting an entirely new look that has us ecstatic. What’s In Store with the New Toyota Mirai?
Currently, the Toyota Mirai is in its first generation and sports an angular design and unique fueling system. What sets this alternative fuel vehicle apart from others on the North Charlotte Toyota lineup is that the Mirai is fueled via hydrogen fuel cell. The Mirai is one of the first mass produced models in the world when it comes to hydrogen fuel cell technology. But, it’s a pretty rare model to see this side of the U.S. Unfortunately the east coast lacks the proper infrastructure to support fueling hydrogen fuel cell vehicles so the North Charlotte Toyota Mirai is only available on the west coast and in limited quantity.
That’s where the second generation comes in. With a complete redesign that creates a smoother look and feel along with all-new performance engineering, the Toyota Mirai is posed to make hydrogen fueling technology popular and more widely available throughout North America. Last October we at Toyota of North Charlotte delivered news of the next generation Mirai and now we have even more confirmation of its arrival. A camouflaged Mirai was spotted road testing and it looks like it will in fact retain the sleek style we informed you of last year. This new North Charlotte Toyota Mirai will also be engineered with RWD on Toyota’s TNGA platform to give more oomph in the performance department.
Inside the Mirai you can expect to see new convenience and technology features like:
- Leather-trim interior upholstery
- Qi wireless charging for your smartphone and other compatible devices
- A 14-speaker JBL sound system
- A larger touch-screen infotainment interface
- And digital instrumentation
Not only will the new North Charlotte Toyota Mirai be RWD and more performance heavy, it will also have a significantly better driving range capability. The first generation Mirai could travel 312 miles on a full tank of hydrogen fuel and the new generation can get up to 400 miles! Combined with the performance based RWD platform, the North Charlotte Toyota Mirai will also sport a longer and lower wheel base that will provide enhanced comfort to you and your passengers during your commutes.
While it hasn’t been officially unveiled yet, the Toyota Mirai will most certainly be coming soon. However, don’t get too excited. Hydrogen fueling technology is still very new and it may be some time before the North Charlotte area develops the infrastructure necessary for proper commuting and fueling to make the Mirai widely available.
